CISCE has recently unveiled subject question collections known as "Item Banks" containing questions. These practice questions, emphasizing competency will hold a 25% weightage, in the ICSE and ISC exams in 2025. The CISCE issued a notice on Wednesday, which was then shared with schools on Thursday.
In an effort to aid students and educators in their preparation CISCE has made available item banks comprising competency focused practice questions tailored for ISC levels.

New sets of item banks have been made available starting from July 16th with plans to release them in groups of 3 5 subjects until August
These resources can be found on the website under the library section
The uploaded content includes ISC biology, chemistry, English literature, as ICSE history and physics
These specific item banks are intended to assist teachers by providing resources
The questions, within these banks cover a range of types including recall based queries, application based tasks and those requiring thinking skills.
The question sets have been. Checked by groups, for each subject and examined by external subject specialists as per the announcement.
"The specific question banks are also intended to be useful for teachers, who are urged to create their collection of skill-oriented questions for classroom exercises " it stated.
Rodney Borneo, principal of St. Augustines Day School in Shyamnagar mentioned, "These question sets will assist teachers in guiding students, on the types of questions they can anticipate."
Some school administrators mentioned that while the "why" and "what" aspects well known there is now an emphasis, on reasoning behind them a shift from memorization. Terence John, the director of education at Julien Day Group of Schools highlighted the increased prominence of multiple choice questions (MCQs) across subjects since 2022.
He emphasized the need for question types and appropriate grading beyond MCQs to encourage preparation and deeper understanding among teachers and students.
Sujoy Biswas, principal of Rammohan Mission School emphasized the importance of sample papers with questions, answers and examples to guide board students effectively. He also noted that students can access these resources on the council website.
Seema Sapru, principal of Heritage School mentioned that evolving patterns call for question banks in subjects to facilitate practice and provide clarity to teachers in preparing students.
Each subject's item bank includes categorized questions and answers for reference.
