Maharashtra State Board Exams: Ahead of schedule
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has recently announced that the Class 10 and 12 board exams, for the year of 2024-25 will take place earlier than usual.
Specifically the Class 12 exams are set to run from 11th February to 18th March 2025 with exams scheduled between 24th January and 10th February 2025.
In 2025 the Maharashtra Class 10 board exams are scheduled to take place. The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams will run from 21st February 2025 to 17th March 2025.
Practical and internal assessments will be conducted from 3rd February 2025 to 20th February 2025.
The decision to hold the exams at this time was influenced by the exam schedules of the HSC and SSC boards. Normally HSC exams begin in February and SSC exams in March. Results are usually out, by May or early June. However this years exam schedule has been moved up.
"The board has made this change to facilitate admissions for the academic year give students more time to prepare for entrance exams and speed up supplementary exams and results for those needing retakes or grade improvements " explained Sharad Gosavi, chairman of the state board.
Likewise Anuradha Oak, the state boards secretary mentioned that releasing exam dates aims to alleviate student stress. The detailed schedules, for practical tests examinations, internal assessments and written exams will be published separately on the Boards website.

The change, in exam dates brings forth a number of benefits for students;
Streamlines Admission Process: Conducting exams earlier enables result announcements thereby streamlining the admission process for the academic year.
Extended Preparation Time: Students preparing for entrance examinations will have time to get ready following their board exams.
Prompt Supplementary Exams: The revised timetable permits the board to organize exams and announce outcomes promptly which is advantageous, for students wishing to retake or enhance their scores.
